Abound Health is seeking a Senior Payroll Tax Analyst to join our Finance team. In this role, you will report to the Controller. Senior Payroll Tax Analyst is responsible for the comprehensive payroll tax functions of the company, ensuring adherence to federal, state, and local payroll tax laws. In this role you will own the accurate calculation, collection, and filing of payroll taxes while staying informed about evolving tax legislation. You will build relationships with clients to build rapport and identify client�s payroll tax needs. This role is a remote working east coast time zone.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain extensive knowledge of payroll tax regulations for federal, state, and local agencies and ensure accurate tax withholdings in the payroll system.
- Complete multi-site/state payroll tax reporting to governmental agencies and resolve complex payroll tax inquiries from entities like the IRS and Social Security Administration for our clients.
- Preparation of W-2s and 1099s to ensure accurate and timely reporting to employees, third parties, and governmental agencies.
- Preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual payroll tax reporting, including payroll tax packages for clients. Able to amend payroll tax returns if required.
- Set up tax accounts for new and existing clients within federal and state third-party databases and manage the third-party payroll tax vendor relationship.
- Process payroll tax payments via EFTPS and multi state tax agencies using knowledge of payroll tax regulatory procedures.
- Periodically audits payroll tax calculation for internal, external and new customers.
- Research and resolve notices from IRS and state taxing authorities promptly.
- Conduct research on payroll tax law applications related to various state compensation payments.
- Work closely with ERP System development teams for payroll tax enhancements.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of payroll tax expertise, specifically calculating tax liability on federal and state level.
- In-depth knowledge of payroll tax and regulatory reporting requirements.
- Ability to read and interpret complex documents, such as tax guidelines.
- Ability to multi-task in a deadline-driven environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to solve problems effectively under pressure.
- Comfortable having difficult conversations with clients.
- Accounting and payroll experience helpful.
Education
- Bachelor�s degree in finance or accounting or equivalent experience in payroll taxes.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary Range: $90,000 - $115,000
Base pay is determined by factors such as work location, experience, job-related skills, and relevant education or training. In addition to base pay, total compensation may include various other forms of pay. We offer a comprehensive benefits package, including competitive health, dental, and wellness benefits, which begin on your 60th day of employment.
