Fondly known as "Macca's", we have been a household name in Australia for over 50 years, we believe that our customers are the heart and soul of everything we do and make it our mission to make every moment count! As an employer of choice winner time and time again, working with us means taking pride and having fun along the way; while growing and developing your career in a dynamic and supportive environment.

Could you be our next Tax Supervisor?

Sitting within the McDonald’s Australia Finance department and forming part of the McDonald’s Global Tax team, the Australia Tax team provides expert support to the McDonald’s business in both Australia and New Zealand. The role will have a great combination of commercial and technical aspects and will involve responsibilities for both compliance related projects and ad-hoc advisory work. Spanning across different taxes, areas of finance and juggling different priorities, the successful candidate will have solid tax technical understanding, flexibility, organisation, time management and a willingness to learn.

What can you expect on a day-to-day basis?

  • Preparing Australian and NZ tax return and compliance obligations, including preparing supporting workpapers (e.g. Income Tax, FBT, Withholding Tax etc.) and reviewing of monthly BAS/GST filings
  • Applying understanding of business and economic conditions to review transfer pricing analysis and documentation for ANZ markets
  • Collaborating with broader finance and business teams (including Ronald McDonald House Charities) in relation to commercial projects providing practical advice focussed on appropriately managing tax risk
  • Supporting the local and global tax team through tax authority interactions including audits and risk reviews
  • Assisting the local and global tax team with international tax considerations, forecasting and tax effect accounting for both USGAAP and IFRS
  • Driving tax processes and governance areas around tax risk (e.g. internal Tax Risk Management Policy and SOX obligations)
  • Championing process improvements and transformation of the tax function including automation and streamlining of systems and processes
  • Monitoring legislative and regulatory developments to ensure the company is compliant and manage relationships with internal finance contacts and external service providers
Your keys to success:
  • Tertiary qualification in Commerce/Finance/Accounting or similar
  • CA / CPA or Masters of Law / Tax (desirable but not essential)
  • Knowledge of accounting principles particularly tax effect accounting
  • Demonstrated experience working in teams and juggling competing priorities
  • Curiosity and commercial awareness - understand the connections between tax and business
  • Ability to manage different stakeholders
  • Proven capability with different software packages and finance systems
  • Experience with Excel, including lookups, pivot tables and similar functions preferred
Relish in the Macca’s difference when you join the Golden Arches:
  • Competitive Remuneration Package. We offer a total reward package of base salary, health care and a target incentive bonus plan.
  • A Fun & Vibrant Culture. Immerse yourself in local and Macca’s only events and experiences from day one of working with us.
  • 5 Weeks of Annual Leave. Switch off and recharge or explore your passions outside of work with an additional week of annual leave each calendar year.
  • Highly Flexible Work Environment. Our teams have embraced a hybrid working model, balancing working remotely and connecting in the office to support our people and how they best add value.
  • Birthday & Volunteer Leave. Enjoy a day-off during your birthday month and 3 days annually to volunteer for a registered charity you are passionate about.
  • Ongoing Professional Development. We are committed to developing our people by investing in leadership programs and a world class learning and development offering that propel you to achieve your career goals.
  • Macca’s Staff Discount & Retail Discounts. Enjoy discounted Macca’s at any restaurant across Australia and access to hundreds of retail discounts.
  • Access To Our 24/7 Wellbeing Partner (Sonder) For You & Your Immediate Family. Using the Sonder app, access free and confidential safety, medical and mental health support via chat or phone with accredited professionals.

As an equal opportunity employer, we strongly encourage applications from people of all backgrounds, ethnicities, cultures and experiences.
