Job summary

Comfort Systems USA is seeking a Tax Manager to lead the quarterly and annual income tax provision (ASC 740), and to prepare and review tax disclosures for Form 10-Q and 10-K, with oversight of federal and state returns.

The role includes mentoring tax staff, enhancing tax department technology and controls, researching complex issues, evaluating acquisitions, monitoring tax law changes, and coordinating audits, while collaborating with accounting, finance, legal, payroll and operations.

Qualifications

• CPA required.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting.
• Minimum of five years of tax experience, including ASC 740 experience.
• Strong knowledge of federal and state corporate income tax compliance.
• Public accounting experience desirable.
• Experience supervising and developing tax professionals.

Responsibilities

• Manage and assist with quarterly and annual income tax provision per ASC 740, including effective tax rate, deferred tax accounts, and uncertainties.
• Prepare and review consolidated federal income tax return and state income/franchise tax returns.
• Oversee, mentor tax staff and provide technical guidance.
• Enhance tax department technology, controls, and automation.
• Research and resolve complex federal/state tax issues and develop tax strategies.
• Assist with tax review of acquisitions including due diligence and integration.
• Monitor changes in federal/state tax laws and advise actions.
• Coordinate federal/state income tax and unclaimed property audits and inquiries.
• Support internal control environment and controls testing.
• Collaborate with accounting, finance, legal, payroll, operations to gather information for tax reporting and planning.
• Participate in special projects and process improvements.
