Job summary

BDO in Chicago seeks a Tax Manager, Core Tax Services, to advise clients on tax implications of business objectives and to select actions that minimize tax burden and compliance costs. The role involves communicating risks, providing written tax advice, and serving as the primary client contact for complex issues.

The position requires strong leadership, supervisory experience, and an in-depth understanding of ASC 740, tax research, and tax planning.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or Statistics; Masters preferred.
• Five or more years of relevant tax experience; prior supervisory experience required.
• CPA, Attorney, or Internal Revenue Service Enrolled Agent (EA) designation required; other certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Advise clients on tax implications of business objectives and options to minimize tax burden and compliance costs.
• Provide written tax advice to clients and act as primary client contact for complex tax issues.
• Supervise and develop associates and seniors on tax engagements; review work and provide feedback.
• Apply ASC 740 (FAS 109 and FIN 48) policies and communicate tax provision components to clients.
• Develop, implement and oversee tax consulting strategies to maximize client benefit and efficiency.
• Lead strategy development to identify new opportunities and improve processes; manage client relationships and expectations.
