Our EY EDGE practice in Financial Services comprises professionals providing dedicated tax technical services to US and global clients. The opportunity

We are currently seeking a Manager to join our EDGE Insurance Tax practice. Working with dedicated professionals in the insurance industry, you will engage in dynamic tax compliance projects to enhance your tax technical expertise.

Your Key Responsibilities

As a Services Manager, you will manage multiple tasks in a high-performing environment. Your responsibilities include overseeing financial statement audits, reviewing tax returns, and delivering multiple projects to provide exceptional client service to our Insurance clients.

Responsibilities Include
  • Consult with clients, demonstrating professional discretion by escalating complex tax and client relationship matters to senior management and subject-matter experts, coordinating efforts, and managing expectations regarding timing of responses and resolutions.
  • Deliver and manage compliance and consulting services to meet deadlines for client deliverables.
  • Lead projects and work independently, seeking guidance only in complex situations.
  • Possess specialized depth and/or breadth of expertise.
  • Manage communications with client tax liaisons, trust administration teams, and trust officers to gather information, share insights, and obtain necessary instructions for timely and accurate reporting.
  • Support effective long-term client relationships and manage workflow efficiently.
  • Manage engagement deliverables and team resources to ensure timely and accurate tax compliance service delivery, while managing engagement economics.
  • Advise on complex tax matters, set expectations, coordinate daily activities, and assign tasks to staff and seniors.
  • Review and evaluate staff work for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with tax laws and regulations.
  • Provide leadership, feedback, and coaching to team members.
Skills and Attributes for Success
  • Ability to identify problem areas needing escalation to ensure timely and accurate tax return completion.
  • Experience presenting complex topics in client conversations.
  • Ability to break down complex tax projects into manageable components, analyze relevant information, and develop client-centric solutions compliant with laws and regulations.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments, team members, and deadlines simultaneously.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Tax, Law, or Economics with at least 5 years of tax experience.
  • CPA, EA, or licensed attorney.
  • Strong knowledge of ASC 740 and SSAP 101.
  • Income tax support for audits and experience with insurance companies and C Corporations.
  • Experience preparing and reviewing 1120, 1120 PC, 1120 L, and consolidated group returns.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in state and local taxation, SEC, and team management.
