Job summary

H&R Block, Inc. is seeking an entry-level Tax Assistant in Gloucester, VA to help start and close tax interviews. You will enter client and W-2 data, assemble returns, and ensure quality service for clients. The role requires basic math, reading skills, and strong communication both in person and on the phone.

Experience with Windows-based software is preferred, and additional state/local requirements may apply. This position is typically on-site at the Virginia location.

Qualifications

• Reading and math skills required to begin and finish the tax return interview.
• Ability to communicate effectively in person and on the phone.
• Previous experience with Windows-based computer programs.
• Additional state and local requirements may apply.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the beginning of the tax interview by entering client and W-2 information into the tax program
• Assist with the closing of the interview by assembling the tax return, obtaining required signatures, reviewing the finished product with the client, and completing bookkeeping procedures
• Ensure all H&R Block clients are receiving superior service
• All other duties as assigned
