We’re hiring a Tax Resolution Specialist to keep our founders focused on product development and away from paperwork. You will work closely with our Head of Customer Success and CEO, serving as the primary contact when a customer receives a payroll tax notice. Your role involves researching issues, communicating with agencies, and guiding founders and Warp through resolution steps.
Decode federal, state, and local payroll tax notices
Translate tax jargon into plain English
Guide founders via email or quick Zoom sessions
Draft response letters, file responses, and represent Warp in conversations
Maintain case notes in Linear and Notion to ensure team visibility on updates and progress
Identify compliance trends and process gaps
Create FAQs, Founder Guides, and blog posts from recurring issues
Collaborate with the Product team to test new tools that reduce resolution time
2–4 years of payroll or payroll-tax experience
Ability to manage high notice volumes and shifting priorities
Exceptional organizational skills to track deadlines, documents, and follow-ups
Commitment to resolving notices with top-tier customer experience
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Willingness to learn new skills daily
Experience in a similar role
Familiarity with multi-state payroll, especially NY and CA (bonus)
Active CPA license
Background in high-growth SaaS or payroll/HR startups
This role involves high ownership and may require working late or deploying urgent fixes. We emphasize craftsmanship, attention to detail, and excellence. Our team is based in NYC, working in person five days a week in SoHo. Remote candidates within the United States are also welcome.
