Job summary

H&R Block is seeking a seasonal, experienced Tax Professional in the Cleveland area to serve clients with diverse tax needs and provide advanced tax training in a fast-paced environment.

You will conduct interviews (in-person and virtually), prepare returns, and help grow the business while supporting clients through IRS matters and audit notices. A CPA/EA or related qualifications enhance eligibility, with ongoing CE requirements.

Qualifications

• Must have completed tax knowledge assessment and have experience in accounting, finance, bookkeeping or tax.
• Experience completing individual returns and working with virtual tools is preferred.
• Ability to communicate effectively in person, by phone, and in writing.

Responsibilities

• Conduct tax interviews with clients face to face and through virtual tools – video, phone, chat, email
• Prepare complete and accurate tax returns
• Generate business growth, increase client retention, and offer additional products and services
• Provide clients with IRS support
• Mentor and support teammates

Education

Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field

CPA or Enrolled Agent certification

High school diploma / equivalent or higher

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field
• CPA or Enrolled Agent certification
• Experience completing complex returns (individual, trust, partnership)
• 5+ years of experience in accounting, finance, bookkeeping or tax
• Experience conducting virtual tax interviews
• Experience with tax planning and audit support
• Sales and/or marketing experience

Required Qualifications

• All certification levels can provide tax notice services

Your Expertise

• Successful completion of the H&R Block Tax Knowledge Assessment2
• Experience in accounting, finance, bookkeeping or tax
• Experience completing individual returns
• Experience working in a fast-paced environment
• Comfort working with virtual tools – video, phone and chat
• Ability to effectively communicate in person, via phone and in writing
• Must complete continuing education requirement and meet all other IRS and applicable state requirements
• High school diploma / equivalent or higher
