Job summary

Bipartisan Policy Center in Washington, DC, seeks an Associate Director/Director for its federal tax policy program. You will lead research priorities, produce rigorous publications, and engage with Congress and media to advance bipartisan tax reforms that support workers and spur growth.

The role requires strong policy expertise, credibility, and leadership, with responsibility to mentor staff. The work is hybrid, reporting to the Economic Policy Program leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required in a related field.
• 4–6+ years (Associate Director) / 7–10+ years (Director) in public policy, advocacy, or think tanks.
• Excellent writing and analytical abilities for congressional and public audiences.
• Strong quantitative skills and experience with government data sources.
• Record of publishing original research and policy analysis.
• Ability to translate complex policy for diverse audiences.
• Experience building coalitions across ideologically diverse groups.

Responsibilities

• Lead BPC's federal tax policy portfolio, setting research priorities and external strategy.
• Produce high-impact analytical publications, briefs, explainers, and testimony.
• Represent BPC and tax priorities at public events, roundtables and media.
• Engage congressional staff and members across the aisle to advance policy recommendations.
• Build coalitions across diverse organizations on tax policy issues.
• Develop data visualizations to aid staff and experts in fiscal trends.
• Collaborate with policy programs and communications to align tax policy.
• Mentor junior staff and, at Director level, directly manage staff.
