Job summary

The Bipartisan Policy Center (BPC) is seeking an Associate Director to lead cross-organizational work on government operations and program integrity. This senior role shapes policy and strategy, coordinating research, analysis, and external engagement with federal agencies, Congress, and stakeholders.

The ideal candidate has 7+ years in policy, strong writing and communication skills, and a track record managing complex projects with bipartisan impact.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required in a related field.
• 7+ years of relevant professional experience in public policy, government, advocacy, or think tanks.
• Significant experience with government operations or federal management issues.
• Familiarity with GAO’s improper payments framework and major benefit programs.
• Excellent writing and analytical abilities for policy briefs and public-facing content.
• Strong verbal communication skills for senior policymakers and executives.
• Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building abilities.
• Strategic thinker with ability to manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

• Lead research on government operations, program integrity, and federal management topics and translate findings into briefs and recommendations.
• Evaluate proposals against program integrity principles and advance bipartisan recommendations.
• Coordinate cross-cutting research with program teams to connect operations to fiscal policy goals.
• Engage external stakeholders, including federal agencies, congressional staff, inspectors general, and funders; travel as needed.
• Help steward grant funding to sustain and expand the portfolio.
• Collaborate with communications, development, and operations teams to promote research publicly.
• Serve as trusted advisor to program leadership and external partners.
• Monitor policy developments and identify opportunities for engagement.
• Mentor analysts and staff, fostering collaboration and high performance.
