Job summary

Software Placement Group (SPG) in Los Angeles area seeks a direct entry Tax Partner to lead corporate, partnership, and high-net-worth tax services in a client-facing role. You will supervise staff, recruit at colleges, review tax returns, and help grow the firm’s business.

The ideal candidate has 10–15 years in public accounting, CPA license, and advanced degrees. This is a senior leadership position offering hybrid in-office and remote work in Southern California.

Qualifications

  • Lead full range of accounting, auditing, tax, and advisory services for designated clients.
  • Review and sign off on tax returns.
  • Recruit, train, and retain tax staff; college recruiting.
  • Interview candidates and extend offers to tax staff.
  • Oversee staff performance, promotions, and salary adjustments.
  • Maintain technical competence through publications and seminars.
  • Develop new business and maintain client and banker relationships.
  • Establish and monitor annual staff training programs.
  • Coach tax staff and participate in reviews and evaluations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide the firm's full range of accounting, auditing, tax, and advisory services to designated clients
  • Review and sign off on tax returns
  • Participate in recruiting, training, retention, and utilization of tax staff, including recruiting at colleges and universities
  • Interview candidates and oversee extending offers of employment to potential tax staff
  • Review and evaluate accounting staff for promotion and salary adjustment decisions, and release staff who are not to be retained
  • Maintain technical competence through professional literature, financial publications, and professional development seminars
  • Develop new business by expanding services to existing clients, pursuing prospective clients, and maintaining relationships with bankers, attorneys, and investment bankers
  • Help establish and monitor an annual training program for professional staff at various levels
  • Assign accounting staff with an emphasis on continuity of assignments
  • Counsel accounting staff on grievances, professional development, and progress within the firm
  • Contribute to updating the firm's Quality Control Document
  • Participate in practice development efforts and various firm committees
  • Support compliance guidelines in managing others and promote efficient firm operations
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Managing Partner
  • Oversee development, coaching, and training of all tax employees, and participate in their reviews, compensation, and evaluations

Required qualifications
  • 10 to 15 years of experience in public accounting, with proven progression in complexity, scope, and number of engagements managed
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, or Master's degree in accounting
  • Minimum of 40 hours of continuing professional education required each year
  • Current and valid CPA license
