Job summary

True North Consultants, Inc. is seeking a Tax Partner – Generalist in the Los Angeles area. This role offers a hybrid in-office and home-based schedule with bases available in Los Angeles or Woodland Hills, CA.

Responsibilities

  • Provide full range of services to designated clients in accounting, auditing, taxes, or advisory areas.
  • Review and sign off on tax returns.
  • Develop and train staff; recruit and mentor tax personnel.
  • Develop new business by expanding services to existing clients and pursuing new opportunities.

Tax Partner - Generalist

Well established, highly profitable regional CPA firm seeks a direct entry Tax Partner to add to their growing staff. Must be well versed in corporate, partnership and high net worth individual tax.The selected individual will work a hybrid in- office and home based schedule, and can base in an office in either L. A., or Woodland Hills, CA. Responsibilities:

Provide the Firm's full range of services on a fee basis to designated clients, in a manner consistent with the best interest of the specific client and the Firm's philosophy. Partners develop, mentor and train staff, and make associations to develop new business for the Firm.

Essential Functions
  • Responsible for all services rendered to clients in the functional areas of accounting,auditing, taxes, or advisory services.
  • Reviews and signs off on tax returns.
  • Involved with the administration of the personnel function as it relates to acquisition,training, retention, and utilization of tax staff. Recruits or assigns individualto recruit students at selected colleges and universities.
  • Interviews and oversees extending initial offers of employment to potential taxstaff employees. Reviews and evaluates accounting staff personnel for purposes ofpromotion and salary adjustment. Releases employees on the tax staff whoare not to be retained.
  • Maintains required technical competence through professional literature, financialpublications, and attendance at professional development seminars.
  • Develops new business through expanding services rendered to existing clients,pursuing contact with prospective clients, and maintaining contacts with bankers,attorneys, investment bankers, and others.
  • Involved in establishing an annual Training Program for the professional staff anddevelops specific programs for various levels of the accounting staff.
  • Monitors those training programs established and administered by the Management
  • Consulting Services and Tax Departments for their respective professional staffs.
  • Emphasizes continuity in the assigning of accounting staff to specific assignments.
  • Counsels with the accounting staff on their grievances, professional development, andprogress with the firm.
  • Involved with updating the Firm's Quality Control Document.
Nonessential Functions
  • Participates in the Firm’s practice development efforts.
  • Promotes the most efficient operations of the Firm and supports complianceguidelines in managing others.
  • Participates on various committees; offers opinions and insight to better improvethe Firm’s operation and profitability.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Managing Partner.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
    • Demonstrates knowledge of tax laws, regulations, in both audit and tax.
    • Proficiency in use of computer, tax research, and financials, and tax

    software programs.

    • Proficiency in use of computers, computer accounting software, and tax software

    programs.

    • Demonstrates ability to bring in new business to a CPA Firm.
    • Ability to organize work and projects, prioritize and meet deadlines, and to complete

    work in an efficient and accurate manner.

    • Ability to reason and effectively multi-task.
Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the development, coaching and training of all tax employees.
  • Must be familiar with the qualifications of all tax staff members for the developmentand instruction of their training needs.
  • Participates in reviews, compensation and evaluations of accounting professionals.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Generally, requires ten (10) to fifteen (15) years of experience in public accounting,demonstrating a proven progression in complexity, scope, and number ofengagements managed.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, or Master’s degree in accounting.
  • Minimum of forty (40) hours of continuing professional education is required each yearto maintain and develop technical and business skills.
  • A current and valid CPA’s license is required.
