Job summary

Abacus Group is seeking a Tax Manager for its Professional Services Group in Newtown Square, PA. You will oversee federal, state, and local tax compliance for C corporations, S corporations, partnerships, and individuals, and advise on complex matters.

You will mentor staff, collaborate with senior leadership on client deliverables and tax strategies, manage notices and audits, and build strong client relationships across industries.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting required.
• 7+ years of progressive public accounting tax experience.
• Active CPA license required.
• Experience with M&A tax due diligence and structuring is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Oversee federal, state, and local tax compliance for C corporations, S corporations, partnerships, and individuals, including Forms 1120, 1120-S, 1065, and 1040.
• Advise clients on complex tax matters by developing technical analyses, memoranda, and strategic planning recommendations.
• Partner with senior leadership on client deliverables, tax strategies, and business initiatives.
• Identify tax planning opportunities and potential risks to support informed client decisions.
• Manage IRS and state tax notices, inquiries, and audit support activities.
• Mentor staff and senior team members through technical guidance, coaching, and development.
• Coordinate multiple client engagements while maintaining deadlines, accuracy, and quality standards.
• Cultivate strong client relationships across a variety of industries through responsive and proactive service.

• Experience supporting M&A transactions, including due diligence and tax structuring a plus
• Demonstrated proficiency in tax research and planning
• Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and mentor team members
• Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills with executive presence
• Active CPA license required
