Job summary

NorthPoint Search Group is seeking a Tax Manager in Lubbock, TX to lead tax engagements, perform final technical reviews, manage staff and engagement workflow, and support client relationships with a focus on compliant, high-quality tax services.

You will mentor staff, drive process improvements, and contribute to ongoing team training while ensuring confidentiality across engagements.

Qualifications

• CPA certification required.
• Minimum of five years of public accounting experience.
• Demonstrated leadership ability.
• Strong decision-making skills with initiative.
• Ability to perform effectively under pressure.
• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage a heavy workload.

Responsibilities

• Provide final technical review on tax returns and related documents across the client base.
• Research complex tax issues and develop practical recommendations.
• Stay current on changes in tax laws and accounting procedures.
• Plan, schedule, and manage client engagements to meet all deadlines.
• Communicate directly with clients to ensure their best interests are supported.
• Direct and support staff and supervisors by setting expectations, providing resources, and fostering a positive work environment.
• Monitor work quality and staff performance.
• Assign, track, and manage tasks and projects prepared by staff and supervisors.
• Mentor and develop team members at all levels.
• Build and maintain internal and external networks to support business development.
• Oversee real-time and monthly billing, collections, WIP monitoring, aging, and write-downs.
• Facilitate and participate in internal CPE and training activities.
