Tax Manager – Business & Individual Tax (CPA)
Saunders O'Dell, PA | Simpsonville, South Carolina
Full-Time | Onsite | $100,000–$115,000, commensurate with experience
Own your work. Build meaningful client relationships. Have a life during tax season, too.
Are you an experienced CPA who enjoys solving challenging tax problems, working directly with business owners, and taking ownership of your clients — but wants to do it without the excessive hours and layers of management often associated with public accounting?
Saunders O'Dell is an established, locally owned CPA firm in Simpsonville, South Carolina. We're looking for an experienced Tax Manager with strong technical skills, sound professional judgment, and the ability to independently manage business and individual tax engagements from start to finish.
We believe excellent client service and a healthy life outside of work should go hand in hand.
Why Join Saunders O'Dell?
A sustainable approach to tax season.
We maintain a firm maximum of 55 working hours per week, even during tax season, with a standard 40-hour workweek outside peak season. Fifty-five hours is a ceiling, not a target.
We support this commitment through thoughtful client selection, realistic workload planning, and disciplined deadlines.
Real autonomy and client ownership.
You’ll independently manage your assigned clients and tax engagements, from planning and preparation through final delivery. We believe in hiring capable professionals and trusting them to do excellent work, with collaboration and technical support available when needed.
Technical excellence without unnecessary hierarchy.
You’ll work alongside experienced professionals who take ownership of their work. We value collaboration, independent judgment, and efficient processes rather than multiple layers of routine review and approval. Appropriate quality-control procedures remain part of our practice.
You’ll develop lasting relationships with business owners and individuals while gradually assuming responsibility for additional established client relationships as the firm grows and evolves.
Our office offers a convenient alternative to commuting into Greenville for professionals living in Simpsonville, Five Forks, Fountain Inn, and surrounding communities.
What You’ll Do
This is primarily a tax-focused position. Routine bookkeeping and recurring monthly accounting production are handled by other team members.
