Job summary

Confidential Employer in Newark, Delaware is seeking a Tax Manager to join a growing regional CPA firm with hybrid flexibility. The role offers a clear path toward partner-track opportunities and a competitive compensation package.

The position requires 6+ years of public accounting tax experience, CPA (or EA with relevant experience) and strong state/federal tax knowledge. Local hybrid work in Newark is preferred.

Qualifications

  • 6+ years of recent public accounting tax experience.
  • CPA designation preferred; EA candidates may be considered.
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in accounting or related field.
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state taxation.
  • Experience with multi-state taxation and multiple entity types.
  • Strong client relationships and leadership skills.
  • Comfortable using tax research software and AI-enabled tools.

Responsibilities

  • Review complex individual and business tax returns.
  • Lead proactive tax planning and strategy for individuals, business owners, and organizations.
  • Build trusted client relationships with business owners and firm leadership.
  • Manage tax research projects involving federal and state tax matters.
  • Handle IRS and state tax notices, examinations, and related client matters.
  • Review multi-state tax issues and recommend strategies.
  • Manage multiple engagements while maintaining quality and deadlines.
  • Mentor, supervise, and develop tax professionals throughout the team.
  • Serve as a technical resource and help strengthen the firm's growing tax practice.
  • Embrace evolving tax technologies, including AI-enabled tools and modern research platforms.

Pay: $115,000.00 - $145,000.00 per year

Location

Newark, Delaware. This is a hybrid opportunity for a local candidate who can maintain a regular presence with our team while enjoying flexibility outside the office.

Note

Candidates must have 6+ years of recent public accounting tax experience and either an active CPA designation or an EA designation supported by significant relevant experience. Local candidates who can work a hybrid schedule in the Newark area are strongly preferred.
