Job summary

Orion Placement is seeking a tax senior for a respected regional CPA firm in Newark, Delaware. The role focuses on preparing and reviewing complex tax returns, resolving technical issues, and mentoring staff.

This position offers a hybrid work arrangement, 20+ PTO days, 401(k) participation, and comprehensive health benefits for you and dependents. Candidates need 3+ years in public accounting tax and a CPA or EA designation.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of public accounting tax experience.
  • CPA designation or EA designation with significant relevant experience.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting.
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state tax codes and compliance requirements.
  • Experience with multi-state taxation.
  • Experience with tax preparation and research software.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and perform technical reviews of complex individual and business tax returns.
  • Ensure tax engagements comply with federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations.
  • Identify and resolve complex technical tax issues and provide guidance to tax preparers.
  • Partner with Tax Managers and firm leadership to maintain consistent tax policies and quality standards.
  • Review returns across multiple entity types and address multi-state taxation matters.
  • Support tax planning and technical research initiatives for clients.
  • Train and mentor staff on tax technical matters, compliance requirements, and best practices.
  • Help develop and improve quality control procedures for tax engagements.
  • Stay current on changing tax laws and communicate important developments to the team.
  • Use tax preparation and research technology to efficiently deliver accurate, high-quality work.

Pay: $95,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year
