Job summary

Confidential Employer in Fargo, ND seeks a leader to own end-to-end payroll operations. You will manage a payroll team, ensure timely, accurate, and compliant payroll delivery across multiple entities and jurisdictions, and partner directly with clients and internal leaders.

This on-site role requires 4+ years of progressive payroll experience and payroll leadership; CPP/CPA preferred. You’ll shape payroll systems, controls, and processes in a growing financial services organization and drive

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of progressive payroll experience.
  • Payroll management, supervisory, or team leadership experience.
  • Strong end-to-end payroll administration and operations knowledge.
  • Experience with multistate or multijurisdiction payroll, taxes, compliance, and deductions.
  • Experience with payroll systems and related accounting or HR technology.
  • Strong Excel, analytical, organizational, communication, and problem solving skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field.
  • CPP, CPA, or another relevant professional certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end payroll operations and ensure accurate, timely, and compliant payroll delivery.
  • Manage, mentor, and develop payroll team members while setting performance standards.
  • Oversee payroll processing across multiple entities, states, and regulatory jurisdictions.
  • Review payroll runs, validate data, and resolve complex payroll issues (taxes, garnishments, deductions).
  • Maintain strong payroll controls, documentation, reporting, and system administration.
  • Partner directly with clients and internal teams to provide knowledgeable payroll guidance.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline workflows, strengthen controls, and improve payroll tech and processes.
  • Stay current on payroll laws, tax requirements, and regulatory changes.

Pay: $120,000.00 - $160,000.00 per year
