Job summary

The Office of the Iowa Attorney General seeks a Section Chief for the Revenue Section, part of the Agency Counsel Division. The Section Chief leads the legal team, supervises about a dozen lawyers and staff, and acts as the Office’s principal liaison to the Iowa Department of Revenue.

The role provides legal services on tax, lottery, ABD and tobacco compliance, represents the Department in state and federal bankruptcy courts, and reports to the Deputy Attorney General for Agency Counsel.

Qualifications

• Five years of experience practicing law and licenses to practice in Iowa and federal and bankruptcy courts.
• Experience in tax law, advising government bodies, and tax policy.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise the Revenue Section's legal team and support staff.
• Represent the Department before courts and administrative tribunals.
• Provide legal advice on tax, lottery, ABD and tobacco compliance.
• Serve as the Office's lead representative to the Iowa Department of Revenue.
• Report to the Deputy Attorney General for Agency Counsel.
