Job summary

Florida Department of Revenue seeks a Senior Attorney to provide legal counsel to the General Tax Administration staff on more than 30 taxes and fees, including sales and use tax, unemployment tax, and corporate income tax, under the direction of the Chief Legal Counsel.

The role requires thorough research of state and federal statutes and represents the Department in petitions, civil actions, and hearings, handling pleadings, discovery, witnesses, and trials as assigned.

Qualifications

• Admission to the Florida Bar.
• Two (2) years of professional experience in the practice of law.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal counsel and advice to the Department’s General Tax Administration staff on taxes and fees.
• Represent the Department in administrative hearings and civil lawsuits related to tax assessments and garnishments.
• Conduct thorough research of state and federal tax statutes, rules, and cases.
