Job summary

Vaco by Highspring seeks an Internal Tax Manager to lead the company's tax compliance, planning, reporting, and strategy initiatives. You will partner with finance, accounting, and leadership to ensure compliance while optimizing the tax position.

The role offers high visibility, strategic involvement, and the opportunity to influence key business decisions, including mergers, acquisitions, and restructurings. Strong CPA with 7+ years of tax experience and ERP proficiency is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• CPA required or strongly preferred.
• 7+ years of progressive tax experience in public accounting, corporate tax, or both.
• Strong understanding of federal and state tax regulations.
• Experience with tax provision and tax compliance processes.
• Advanced Excel skills and experience with tax software platforms.
• Strong project management and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage federal, state, and local tax compliance activities.
• Oversee preparation and review of income tax provisions and tax filings.
• Coordinate with external tax advisors and auditors.
• Lead tax planning initiatives to minimize tax exposure and optimize cash flow.
• Research and interpret tax laws, regulations, and emerging developments.
• Advise finance and executive leadership on tax implications of business decisions.
• Oversee tax audits and respond to inquiries from taxing authorities.
• Develop and maintain tax policies, procedures, and internal controls.
• Identify process improvement opportunities and leverage technology to increase efficiency.
• Prepare tax-related reporting and presentations for management and stakeholders.
