State of West Virginia is hiring a Data Entry Clerk to operate scanners for tax returns and input data into Fairfax/GenTax systems. You will verify MICR data, reclassify miscodes, and handle documents for distribution to appropriate units, while upholding strict confidentiality.

This role requires a high school diploma and at least one year of data-entry experience, with overtime during peak tax season. A fingerprint background check is required.

Competenze

• Graduation from a standard four-year high school or equivalent.
• One year of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience in data entry or transcribing dictation.
• Substitution: twelve hours in computer coursework or four data processing/word processing courses may substitute for the experience.

Mansioni

• Operate a scanner to image tax returns for data capture and storage.
• Rescan returns rejected by the system and verify data for accuracy.
• Enter data into Fairfax and GenTax systems using provided documentation.
• Verify MICR line information and reclassify miscodes using defined parameters.
• Maintain taxpayer confidentiality in compliance with IRS regulations.
• Assist in retrieving tax documents from satellite offices or other divisions when needed.
