Job summary

Hamilton Lane is seeking a Senior Tax Associate to join our funds tax team, supporting partnership tax compliance and coordination with outside providers in a fast-paced environment. You will review returns, ensure K-1 deliveries, and assist with global reporting requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related discipline required.
  • 4+ years of fund tax accounting or tax compliance experience with outside service providers.
  • Experience reviewing partnership agreements and forms: 1065, 1120, 1120-F, 1042, 8804.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and oversee third-party tax service providers for funds.
  • Review tax return compliance and ensure timely completion and K-1 delivery.
  • Support global investor tax reporting (FATCA/CRS) and monitor compliance.
  • Manage tax calendars to ensure timely tax return filings.
  • Act as tax liaison with outside advisors, consultants, auditors, and fund administrators.
  • Coordinate with internal/external teams to document tax positions and guidelines.
  • Assist with investor requests and inquiries.
  • Prepare and maintain tax explanations for investing entities.

The candidate must have an understanding of partnership tax and compliance. In addition, the position requires assisting the team with assigned duties and organizing special projects. The successful candidate must be able to communicate effectively and operate in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment where priorities often change.Responsibilities:Coordinate and over-see third-party tax service providers utilized by the fundsReview of tax return compliance provided by tax service providers, including manage timely completion of tax returns, K-1 delivery and paymentsSupport compliance with global investor tax reporting for FATCA and CRS, ensuring accurate documentation, ongoing monitoring, and proactive remediation of compliance requirements as well as review filings in each jurisdictionManage tax calendars to ensure tax return compliance is timely filedAct as tax liaison with outside tax advisors, consultants, auditors, and fund administratorsCoordinate with internal/external departments to ensure that tax issues, positions, policies and guidelines are documented and implemented correctly and consistently across all fundsAssist with investor requests and inquiriesPrepare and maintain tax explanations for investing entitiesQualifications:Must-haves:Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related discipline.4+ years of related fund tax accounting or tax compliance experience including peer reviewing and interacting with outside service providersExperience with reviewing partnership agreements, carried interest calculations and Forms: 1065, 1120, 1120-F, 1042 and 8804Strong working knowledge of the private investment fund industry and technical experience including closed end fund Limited Partnership Agreements, investment structures, tax allocations and carried interest provisions, federal withholding rules, state and local compliance, and international provisionsDemonstrated ability to multitask in a dynamic, fast-paced environment while effectively managing and prioritizing competing demands.Excellent oral and written communications, analytical and organizational skills are requiredProficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).Nice-to-haves:Demonstrated ability to identify and recommend process improvements.Willingness to take initiative, ask thoughtful questions, and contribute ideas to improve team processesEagerness to take ownership of assigned tasks and contribute to team goalsCPA/MST/MACC/MBA.BenefitsAt Hamilton Lane, our benefits philosophy is simple: to provide our employees with a competitive suite of benefits and services to help navigate through the complexities and challenges of working, living, raising a family, and eventually retiring.
