Job summary

Hamilton Lane Advisors, LLC invites you to join as an Associate to serve as a primary operational contact for funds, focusing on partnership tax and compliance in a fast-paced environment.

You will coordinate with tax service providers, review returns, support FATCA/CRS reporting, manage tax calendars, and assist investors. A Bachelor's in accounting/finance and 4+ years of experience are required, with CPA/MST/MACC/MBA preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related discipline.
  • 4+ years of related fund tax accounting or tax compliance experience including peer reviewing and interacting with outside service providers.
  • Experience with reviewing partnership agreements, carried interest calculations and Forms: 1065, 1120, 1120-F, 1042 and 8804.
  • Strong knowledge of private investment fund industry, tax allocations and carried interest provisions.
  • Ability to multitask in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with competing demands.

The Opportunity

The Associate will serve as one of the primary operational contacts for funds. The candidate must have an understanding of partnership tax and compliance. In addition, the position requires assisting the team with assigned duties and organizing special projects. The successful candidate must be able to communicate effectively and operate in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment where priorities often change.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and over-see third‑party tax service providers utilized by the funds
  • Review of tax return compliance provided by tax service providers, including manage timely completion of tax returns, K‑1 delivery and payments
  • Support compliance with global investor tax reporting for FATCA and CRS, ensuring accurate documentation, ongoing monitoring, and proactive remediation of compliance requirements as well as review filings in each jurisdiction
  • Manage tax calendars to ensure tax return compliance is timely filed
  • Act as tax liaison with outside tax advisors, consultants, auditors, and fund administrators
  • Coordinate with internal/external departments to ensure that tax issues, positions, policies and guidelines are documented and implemented correctly and consistently across all funds
  • Assist with investor requests and inquiries
  • Prepare and maintain tax explanations for investing entities
Qualifications
Must‑haves
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related discipline.
  • 4+ years of related fund tax accounting or tax compliance experience including peer reviewing and interacting with outside service providers.
  • Experience with reviewing partnership agreements, carried interest calculations and Forms: 1065, 1120, 1120‑F, 1042 and 8804.
  • Strong working knowledge of the private investment fund industry and technical experience including closed end fund Limited Partnership Agreements, investment structures, tax allocations and carried interest provisions, federal withholding rules, state and local compliance, and international provisions.
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask in a dynamic, fast‑paced environment while effectively managing and prioritizing competing demands.
  • Excellent oral and written communications, analytical and organizational skills are required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
