Job description

Nordic Naturals is seeking a Tax and Compliance Manager to lead our internal corporate tax, indirect tax, and compliance functions. In this role, you will evaluate our existing tax workflows and external CPA arrangements, delivering strategic recommendations to leadership on the optimal balance between in-house execution and outsourced support. As our primary subject matter expert, you will take ownership of various tax processes, collaborate cross-functionally, and ensure our systems and compliance frameworks scale effectively with company growth.

Key Responsibilities/Essential Functions:

Corporate Tax
  • Assess current corporate tax workflows and evaluate external CPA arrangements to present recommendations to leadership on opportunities to optimize costs, timing, and accuracy.
  • Serve as the primary internal subject matter expert for corporate income tax matters (primarily federal & state, with a need for proactive planning for international expansion), taking ownership of preliminary tax calculations (e.g., quarterly estimates), tax payments, provision workpapers, fielding tax notices and collaboration with external advisors.
  • Partner with the accounting team to optimize reporting frameworks to cleanly and efficiently support tax reporting needs.
  • Lead the R&D tax credit process, collaborating with reporting teams to establish internal tracking structures needed to maximize and substantiate claims efficiently.
  • Monitor changing tax laws, corporate nexus and optimization opportunities, communicating potential business impacts and actionable guidance to leadership.
Indirect Tax & Property Tax
  • Monitor and address domestic and international nexus requirements across existing operations and global expansion.
  • Oversee sales tax, use tax, VAT, and property tax compliance, including taxability verification across jurisdictions, nexus, report reviews, exemption certificates and transaction management.
  • Collaborate with accounting and finance teams to ensure sales tax and VAT are accurately recorded and reconciled within financial systems.
  • Research and resolve tax notices and inquiries, working directly with external advisors and tax authorities as needed.
  • Coordinate with the legal team to align tax registrations with corporate business registrations, state nexus notices, and foreign entity filings.
  • Coordinate the company’s business insurance program in partnership with legal, overseeing policy renewals, preparation of statement of values, and evaluating coverage requirements.
  • Prepare corporate transparency filings, including annual census reporting and newer regulatory mandates such as Beneficial Ownership Information (BOI).
  • Partner with legal, sales, and procurement teams on information-sharing protocols and Know Your Customer (KYC) compliance.

Position Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance. A CPA license or Master’s in Taxation is highly preferred
  • 3–6 years of corporate tax experience (public accounting or a mix including in house corporate is ideal)
  • Technical Skills: Strong understanding of corporate income tax, sales tax/VAT, and multi-state nexus rules.
  • Learning & Research Agility: Ability to find facts, learn and apply new concepts, reporting requirements and tax legislation
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills; ability to translate complex tax regulations into plain, actionable language for non-tax colleagues and executive decision makers
  • Confidentiality: High level of discretion and integrity, experience securely handling confidential financial records and sensitive company information
  • Experience working with modern ERP systems an automated sales tax software
