Job description

As an Indirect Tax Analyst on our Tax team, you’ll help keep our sales and use, auction, and property tax compliance accurate and on time across the many jurisdictions where we operate. You’ll analyze and reconcile tax data, support filings and audits, and work directly with tax authorities and business partners to resolve issues. It’s a great fit for a tax or accounting professional who enjoys detail-oriented work and wants broad, hands‑on exposure to indirect and property tax.

Responsibilities
Tax Compliance & Reporting
  • Prepare, validate, and reconcile reports, schedules, and workpapers supporting sales and use and auction tax returns, including buyer sales tax refunds.
  • Support other indirect tax filings, including but not limited to real estate tax, personal property tax or similar taxes.
  • Support Form 8300 filings and personal property and real estate tax compliance, including payments and documentation.
  • Prepare well‑organized documentation for internal and external audits in line with internal controls.
Jurisdiction & Business Partnership
  • Research and respond to tax notices and jurisdictional inquiries; contact state and local authorities to resolve account issues, confirm filing and payment status, and close open items.
  • Perform technical tax research as needed.
  • Partner with Accounts Payable, Treasury, Accounting, and branch operations to gather information and resolve tax questions.
  • Keep deadlines on track by managing tax calendars, trackers, shared mailboxes, scanning incoming tax mail, and the mailing of returns and payments.
Analysis, Controls & Continuous Improvement
  • Analyze tax data for accuracy and unusual items, investigate discrepancies, and elevate compliance risks promptly.
  • Streamline recurring reports, trackers, and workflows, and support other tax projects as needed.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
  • Working knowledge of sales and use or other state and local tax concepts preferred.
  • Strong Excel skills (lookups, pivot tables, reconciliations) and proficiency in Microsoft Office; Oracle or tax software experience is a plus.
  • Analytical, detail‑oriented, and highly organized; able to juggle recurring deadlines independently and as part of a team.
  • Clear, confident communicator with tax authorities and business partners.
  • Discretion with confidential taxpayer information and curiosity to learn new tax areas and systems.
  • 1-2 years in corporate tax, public accounting, accounting, finance, or related compliance preferred; indirect tax experience is a plus.
