Job summary

Opportune is seeking a Tax Director to lead and grow the Tax Advisory Services practice’s compliance and financial reporting advisory work. The Director will oversee client engagements, manage federal and state income tax matters, including mergers & acquisitions, capital events, and restructurings, and play a key role in expanding the practice.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; Master’s degree preferred
• Active CPA license required
• 7–12+ years of relevant tax experience in a large corporate tax department or Big 4
• Experience preparing and reviewing federal and state corporate and partnership returns
• Experience with ASC 740 tax provisions
• Strong knowledge of corporate and partnership tax rules
• Proven project management and team leadership skills
• Proficiency in MS Office, OneSource, CorpTax, and GoSystems

Responsibilities

• Lead the preparation and review of federal and state corporate and partnership income and franchise tax returns
• Lead the preparation and review of quarterly and year-end income tax provisions
• Advise clients on tax implications of transactions, restructurings, and capital markets events
• Serve as a senior relationship lead for clients, advising finance and tax executives on complex tax matters
• Oversee engagement scope, staffing, budgets, and the quality of deliverables
• Mentor and develop managers and staff tax accountants
• Drive growth of the firm’s Tax practice through business development and expanding client relationships
