ASHFORD CONNEX, LLC is seeking a Director of Tax Advisory Services to lead the TAS practice, driving growth, operations, and strategic direction in Philadelphia. The role reports to the CEO of the Advisory Group and emphasizes client advisory, team leadership, and practice development.

You will mentor tax professionals, manage complex engagements, and contribute to firm leadership, forecasting, and resource allocation while enhancing profitability and client relations.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of progressive tax experience.
• Expertise in partnerships, trusts, estates, and closely held business structures.
• Ability to lead teams, mentor talent, and manage complex client engagements.
• Commercial mindset and interest in building and growing a tax advisory practice; an established book of business is not required.
• Balance hands-on technical work, client relationships, and strategic leadership.

Our client is a financial and tax advisory firm focused on helping entrepreneurs and high-net-worth individuals maximize their growth and wealth potential.

Reporting to the CEO of the Advisory Group, the Director of Tax Advisory Services will lead the growth, operations, and strategic direction of the Tax Advisory Services (TAS) practice.

Key Responsibilities

• Client Advisory: Lead complex tax engagements, develop proactive tax strategies, and build trusted, long-term client relationships.
• Team Leadership: Mentor and develop tax professionals, establish accountability, and build future leaders.
• Practice Growth: Expand existing relationships, identify new opportunities, and support business development and go-to-market initiatives.
• Financial Performance: Oversee engagement pricing, realization, utilization, profitability, and operational efficiency.
• Firm Leadership: Contribute to strategic planning, forecasting, resource allocation, risk management, and practice development as a member of the Advisory Leadership Team.

Required Qualifications

• 10+ years of progressive tax experience, with flexibility based on capabilities, maturity, and leadership potential.
• Expertise in partnerships, trusts, estates, and closely held business structures.
• Ability to lead teams, mentor talent, and manage complex client engagements.
• Strong relationship-building and communication skills, with experience advising business owners, executives, and high-net-worth clients.
• Commercial mindset and interest in building and growing a tax advisory practice; an established book of business is not required.
• Balance hands-on technical work, client relationships, and strategic leadership.

Salary and Location

• Base salary: $225,000–$275,000, plus bonus and benefits.
• Location: Philadelphia, PA – Hybrid (4 days in office). Travel 20% as needed
