Position Summary:
Enbridge is seeking a highly experienced Tax Accountant IV to join its U.S. Tax Department in Houston, TX. This role focuses primarily on U.S. federal, state, and local income tax compliance, while also supporting broader U.S. income tax reporting functions. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical tax expertise, strong analytical capabilities, and the ability to thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare federal corporate and partnership income tax returns, including foreign information returns.
- Support Subpart F and GILTI calculations and related compliance.
- Prepare and review separate and combined state income and franchise tax returns.
- Assist in state apportionment calculations and estimated tax payment computations.
- Calculate tax depreciation and property-related tax adjustments using tax depreciation software.
- Support the preparation and review of the consolidated income tax return, ensuring deadlines and workflow standards are met.
- Review and interpret tax legislation, rules, and regulations with a focus on implications to the company.
- Contribute to federal and state true-up processes and effective tax rate calculations.
- Interface with Oracle Cloud, HFM, and other accounting systems to ensure accurate financial data analysis and compliance.
- Prepare tax-basis balance sheet reconciliations and maintain audit-ready tax workpapers.
- Participate in electronic filing of federal and state returns.
- Identify and implement process improvements and technological efficiencies within the tax function.
- Mentor junior tax staff and serve as a technical resource to the broader team.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field.
- CPA designation and/or Master’s degree in Taxation preferred.
- Minimum of 7 years of progressive income tax experience, preferably in the energy sector.
- Extensive knowledge of federal, state, and foreign income tax laws and compliance procedures.
- Solid understanding of tax accounting principles.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word; excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Experience with Corptax, BNA Fixed Asset Software, and tax research tools highly preferred.
- Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to communicate complex tax issues effectively to non-tax professionals.
Reporting & Relationships:
- Reports directly to the Tax Manager.
- Collaborates with cross-functional teams within accounting and regulatory departments.
- Engages with external stakeholders and provides guidance to other tax team members.
