Job summary

Caprio Cellars is seeking a part-time Tasting Room Associate to provide exceptional guest service and promote wine and Wine Club memberships. You will greet guests, pour wine, discuss wines, and handle sales while maintaining an energetic and hospitable tasting room environment.

The role involves weekend shifts, operating a POS system, handling daily sales, and contributing to a memorable wine country experience. Strong communication, organization, and a passion for hospitality are essential.

Qualifications

  • Excellent communication skills necessary for guest interaction and orders.
  • Ability to accurately read and communicate orders to staff and guests.
  • Well organized with the ability to multi-task and track multiple orders.
  • Maintains a professional demeanor with guests and coworkers.
  • Operates POS system and handles daily sales accounting including returns and discounts.

Responsibilities

  • Greet visitors, pour wines for tasting, answer questions about wines and winery history.
  • Promote and sell wine and Wine Club memberships to customers.
  • Provide exceptional hospitality and participate in special events.
  • Maintain cleanliness and polish glassware, and support tastings as needed.
  • Stay informed about wines, winemaking techniques, and winery lore.

Job description

Caprio Cellars is a small boutique winery focusing on Bordeaux style wines. We offer world‑class wine with exceptional hospitality in a bright and energetic atmosphere. Our tasting room associates not only are passionate about the wine industry, but the culinary world as well. This position provides excellent customer service while effectively selling our products and wine clubs. This is a part‑time job, 4 days a week, including weekends. This position reports to our management team.

  • Well organized, demonstrates a sense of urgency; able to track multiple orders and multitask.

  • Maintains a professional demeanor with guests and coworkers.
  • Handles routine purchasing transactions, including operating POS System, accounting of daily sales, and processing returns and discounts.
  • Greets all visitors to the Tasting Room, pours wines for tasting, discusses wine and responds to customer questions as appropriate.
  • Is warm and welcoming to guests and committed to creating an experience that exceeds guests’ expectations while being hospitable.
  • Ensures that every visitor enjoys their wine tasting experience and leaves with a very high impression of our wines.
  • Effectively promotes and sells wine and Wine Club memberships to customers.
  • Participates and assists with special hospitality events.
  • Washes and polishes glassware for the Tasting Room.
  • Is knowledgeable about wines, accurately describes wines, winemaking techniques, winery history, appellations, and unique aspects of wines.
  • Participates in company-sponsored wine educational and development opportunities.
  • Maintains knowledge of current and new legal issues pertaining to inter‑state shipping of wine to consumers and the impact on day‑to‑day wine shipments.
  • Takes the initiative for self‑development in the areas of our wines, our brands, general hospitality, and for acquiring effective sales techniques.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Valid Washington State Food Workers Card required.
  • MAST permit required.
  • Must have the ability to work weekends.
Physical Demands
  • Must be able to stand and move around for at least 4 hours.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 30‑40 lbs on a regular basis and throughout the shift.
  • Must be able to push and pull equipment of various sizes and weights throughout the shift.
  • Requires grasping, standing, walking, repetitive motions, hearing ability and visual acuity.
  • Ability to understand and accurately follow written and verbal instructions.
