Funky Buddha Brewery in Oakland Park, FL, seeks a Server/Bartender to deliver outstanding guest service in our tap room and bar areas. You will take orders, mix drinks, present checks, and ensure patrons have a great experience in a fast-paced setting.

• Inform customers of daily specials/offerings.
• Take orders from patrons for beverages.
• Check patrons' identification to ensure age requirements.
• Mix ingredients to prepare cocktails.
• Check with customers to ensure satisfaction and address issues.
• Prepare and present checks itemizing costs and sales taxes.
• Collect payments from customers.
• Clean tables or counters after patrons finish.
• Stock service areas and complete side-work.
• Participate in staff training opportunities.

Job Description

The Server works in the bar and guest areas of our tap room. Servers ensure that customers have an enjoyable experience by providing quality customer service. Servers work in the front of the business taking orders, mixing drinks, serving drinks, collecting payment and removing glassware from the table in a timely manner.

Example of Duties

Essential Functions

• Present menus to patrons and answer questions about menu items, making recommendations upon request.
• Prepare alcohol or non-alcohol beverages for bar and restaurant patrons.
• Explain how various menu items are prepared, describing ingredients and brewing methods.
• Inform customers of daily specials/offerings.
• Take orders from patrons for beverages.
• Check patrons' identification to ensure that they meet minimum age requirements for consumption of alcoholic beverages
• Mix ingredients to prepare cocktails.
• Check with customers to ensure that they are enjoying their experience and take action to correct any problems.
• Prepare and present checks that itemize and total costs and sales taxes.
• Collect payments from customers.
• Clean tables or counters after patrons have finished dining.
• Stock service areas and complete required side-work.
• Updates job knowledge by participating in staff training opportunities.

Safety Requirements

OSHA laws require the use of the following Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when performing work duties that have the potential of risk to your health or safety:

• Safety goggles when walking through the Production area

Employees will be trained in the proper use and care of assigned PPE. Funky Buddha Brewery provides the required PPE. It is your responsibility to report defective, damaged or lost PPE, or equipment that does not fit properly to your manager.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

• Possess a valid State of Florida approved server training certification and/or be willing to successfully complete training provided by Funky Buddha Brewery.
• Resume and proven working experience as a Bartender.
• Excellent knowledge of in mixing, garnishing, and serving drinks.
• Strong knowledge of restaurant/tap room operations and service procedures.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Possess basic math skills, possess the ability to handle money and operate a cash register and POS system.
• Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 8 hours).
• Be able to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift up to 30 pounds, occasionally up to 50 pounds.
• Punctual and regular, reliable attendance.
• Honesty and Integrity.
• Basic computer skills and knowledge. Experience with an iPad is a plus.
• Ability to work quickly, problem solve and think on your feet while maintaining poise in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to talk to others to convey information effectively.
• Positive, infectious attitude and sense of humor. Personable, kind, and customer service oriented.
• Passion for the service industry, desire to be part of a team and work hard, high level of self-awareness and long-term view of success.
• Well-versed in: beer history; brewing techniques; preparation techniques, styles, flavor profiles or possess a willingness to learn.
• Must be at least 21 years old.

Qualification Standards

Education

• High School diploma preferred.

Experience

• Prior serving/bartending experience required. Craft beer experience preferred.
