Job summary

The Vane Brothers Company seeks an experienced Tankerman to operate on liquid container barges. You will oversee cargo transfer operations, act as Person in Charge during transfers, and may hold an OS or AB endorsement depending on voyage scope.

Work schedule is 2 weeks on/2 weeks off or 3 weeks on/3 weeks off with full benefits; duties include loading, unloading, and vessel maintenance as described above.

Qualifications

• MMC-required.
• TWIC-required.
• Medical Certificate-required.
• PIC-required.
• Bunkering experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Loads and unloads barge to ensure cargo is loaded per ballast specs.
• Prepares hoses for intake/discharge of material.
• Determines and monitors amount of oil on vessel from dockside or lightering.
• Monitors tank indicators.
• Uses gauge gun to check oil level in tank.
• Walks 110–365 ft along barge to perform duties.
• Spots barge for movement, docking and tying up.
• Performs general maintenance on motors, engines, pumps, generators, electrical, hydraulic and mechanical systems.
• Ventilates storage tanks.
