Job summary

Depot Connect International (DCI) in Bloomington, CA, is seeking a Trailer Mechanic / Registered Inspector to inspect, diagnose, repair, and maintain a fleet of tank trailers under DOT and HM183 regulations. The role requires strong mechanical aptitude, hands-on troubleshooting, and a commitment to safety.

You will inspect cargo tanks, service brakes and suspensions, and work with piping; welding is a plus with ASME R Stamp capabilities.

Qualifications

DOT Inspection Certification Required (Meets FMCSA criteria for a Registered Cargo Tank Inspector).
2+ years of dedicated tank trailer repair and testing experience preferred (ideal candidate has 3–5 years).
Deep familiarity with DOT HM183 cargo tank testing requirements (V, I, L, P, T, K testing methodologies).
Proven experience troubleshooting and repairing heavy-duty air brake systems, suspensions, and industrial piping.
Ability to read, understand, and execute repairs according to technical manuals, blue-prints, and federal compliance standards.

Responsibilities

DOT & HM183 inspections: Conduct compliant inspections on cargo tank specs (MC 306/406, MC 307/407) and high-pressure/cryogenic trailers.
Diagnostics & repairs: diagnose failures and repair mechanical, electrical, structural, and tank piping/valve systems.
Brakes & suspension: inspect, service, install, and repair trailer suspension and air brake systems.
Compliance & documentation: maintain inspection logs in line with hazmat safety standards.
