Job summary

State of Wyoming seeks a Natural Resources Program Principal for the Storage Tank Program. The role leads remediation projects, approves engineering designs, and coordinates multi-agency efforts to ensure cleanup and compliance. Must reside within commuting distance to Lander, WY.

The position manages consultants and contractors, reviews data, and communicates effectively with officials and stakeholders to support protecting public health and the environment.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of geology fundamentals and environmental cleanup methods.
• Knowledge of project management principles.
• Knowledge of civil/environmental engineering, chemistry, hydrogeologic processes.
• Knowledge of remediation technologies for petroleum products and hazardous substances.
• Knowledge of environmental laws, rules, and regulations.
• Knowledge of state policies and procedures.
• Knowledge of underground/above ground storage tanks and RCRA Subtitle I.
• Ability to use a PC and various software packages.

Responsibilities

• Review consultant submittals and assist in remedies development.
• Analyze complex environmental data and site characterization.
• Answer technical questions on policies, procedures, and regulations.
• Prepare new project site descriptions and participate in consultant selection.
• Oversee consultants and contractors on remediation projects to protect health and environment.
• Perform performance appraisals for consultants and contractors.
• Negotiate scope of work and costs for contracts and amendments.
• Review and approve contractor field orders and change proposals.
• Coordinate with local, state, tribal, and federal officials and stakeholders on technical matters.
