Job summary

TrueNorth Steel in Fargo, ND seeks a Product Designer - Tank to lead steel tank design, modeling, and detailing. You will mentor junior drafters, ensure compliance with API/ASME standards, and collaborate with engineering, manufacturing and project teams to optimize tank configurations.

The role requires strong CAD skills (Inventor/AutoCAD/SolidWorks), DFMA knowledge, and a solid background in steel fabrication. On-site with full benefits and a competitive pay range.

Qualifications

7+ years of drafting/product development with steel tanks or similar structures.
Strong knowledge of steel fabrication, welding, and tank construction standards.
Experience mentoring or training others in drafting practices.

Responsibilities

Lead design and detailing of steel storage tanks (aboveground/underground).
Create/manage 3D models and 2D fabrication drawings using CAD (Inventor preferred).
Ensure designs meet API, UL, NFPA, ASME standards and customer needs.
Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing and project teams for optimization.
Provide mentorship and review drafting work for accuracy.
Lead training initiatives and contribute to drafting resources.
