Riverside Research Institute seeks a mid-level Embedded Hardware Security Research Engineer to work with USAF/DoD partners to develop tamper-protected microelectronic devices and IP. The position advances toward SME in attacks on state-of-the-art ICs and protective controls, with on-site work in Beavercreek, Ohio.

The role involves collaboration with national security experts, use of advanced lab tools, and presenting findings at DoD conferences.

Competenze

• Bachelor’s in EE/CE/Cybersecurity/Physics/Math with 5 years of experience, or a Master’s with 3 years, or a PhD.
• Extensive experience developing IP with Verilog, VHDL, or SystemC.
• Programming microcontrollers or microprocessors.
• Knowledge of security features for FPGAs or ASICs.
• Fluency in C, C++, Rust, or Python.
• Experience in side-channel analysis, PUFs, reverse engineering, supply chain security, or voltage/clock glitching.
• Experience with statistical analysis and data analysis.
• Experience using lab equipment (oscilloscopes, power supplies, etc.).
• Ability to work semi-independently on assigned tasks in a collaborative R&D environment.
• Experience creating technical reports, research papers and presentations.
• Willing to travel a few times per year.
• Active Secret clearance required to start; Top Secret clearance and approvals must be obtained.

Mansioni

• Performs research supporting assessment of state-of-the-art attack effectiveness against various microelectronic devices.
• Supports development of hardware algorithms for secure microelectronic devices (microcontrollers, FPGAs, etc.).
• Analyzes secure architectures to identify vulnerabilities.
• Develops, maintains, adjusts, and reports on project status and timelines.
• Collaborates with Government research leads to develop and present papers across a variety of DoD conferences and technical interchanges.
• Supports Principal Investigator and Program Manager in developing technical requirements for approved research areas.
• Interacts with third-party vendors to collect appropriate source information as requested by program, leadership.
• Documents findings in technical reports and presentations.
• Develops and presents technical briefings to technical audiences and conferences.
