Job summary

Bluegrass Community & Technical College is seeking a Talent Search Educational Advisor to identify and support students, assess needs, and provide personal, academic and career guidance as part of the Talent Search program. This grant-funded role reports to the Project Director and will plan curricula for 6-12 grades while engaging schools and community partners.

The position focuses on recruitment, monitoring participant progress, and delivering programs to enhance educational success,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and 4 years of experience or equivalent.
• Master's degree (Counseling, Education, Student Personnel Services, Higher Education, Social Work, or related field).

Responsibilities

• Identify and select participants, assess students' needs, and provide personal, academic and career services.
• Plan and coordinate curriculum and activities for 6-12 grades.
• Develop mentoring relationships and build rapport with program participants.
• Provide direct personal, academic and career development services to Talent Search participants.
• Plan and coordinate educational activities such as college tours, ACT prep workshops, and residential camps.

Salary Range:$3,490 - $4,363 per month

Contract Term Length:12 Months

Standard Hours:37.5 per week

Job Summary

Job Duties:

• Facilitates meeting the requirements set forth by the U.S. Department of Education grant.
• Assists in the recruitment efforts for Educational Talent Search.
• Monitors recruitment numbers to ensure that program participant requirements are met.
• Maintains secure files for students/participants in the program.
• Work effectively with school and community organization personnel to identify, recruit, select and help meet the educational needs of participants.
• Meet monthly with Talent Search participants at their schools.
• Obtain semester grades for participants from school personnel.
• Participate in the development of a creative curriculum and activity development which enhances educational success, financial literacy and career awareness.
• Develop mentoring relationships and build strong rapport with program participants.
• Provide direct personal, academic and career development services to Talent Search participants.
• Plan and coordinate special educational activities, such as college tours, ACT preparation workshops, and residential camps during spring and summer school breaks.
• Participate in hiring and training of all new staff.
• Assist in publishing and creating blogs, vlogs and newsletters.
• Maintain accurate records and files.
• Document student progress and services provided to project participants. (Blumen)
• Assist the Project Director in conducting evaluations, preparing performance reports, and other reports as required by BCTC, KCTCS and the U.S. Department of Education.
• Participate in conferences and workshops to enhance professional development.
• Other duties as assigned by the project director.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree and 4 years of experience or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master's degree (Counseling, Education, Student Personnel Services, Higher Education, Social Work, or related field)

Additional Skills Requested:

• Experience teaching and/or advising economically challenged youth.
• Able to effectively communicate with students, parents, and school personnel.
• Able to work creatively and effectively within a team environment.
• Familiar with using MS office applications, Google drive, including other databases.
• Familiar with using social media, Facebook, twitter.

• Self-motivated and able to work independently.
