Job summary

Bluegrass Community & Technical College seeks a Talent Search Educational Advisor (Student Support Specialist III) to identify participants, assess needs, and provide personal, academic and career services. This role supports 6-12 grades and reports to the Project Director as a grant-funded position.

The Educational Talent Search team focuses on recruitment, curriculum planning, and collaboration with schools to promote educational success and career readiness.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and 4 years of experience or equivalent.
• Master's degree in Counseling, Education, Student Personnel Services, Higher Education, Social Work, or related field preferred.
• Experience teaching and/or advising economically challenged youth.
• Able to effectively communicate with students, parents, and school personnel.
• Proficient with MS Office and Google Drive; familiar with social media.

Responsibilities

• Facilitates meeting grant requirements from the U.S. Department of Education grant.
• Assists in recruitment for Talent Search.
• Monitors recruitment numbers to meet participant requirements.
• Maintains secure files for students/participants in the program.
• Develops curriculum and activities to enhance educational success, financial literacy and career awareness.
• Plans and coordinates college tours, ACT preparation workshops, and residential camps during spring and summer school breaks.
• Participates in hiring and training of all new staff.
• Maintains and documents progress and reports as required by the project director.
