Job summary

5th Axis is seeking a part-time Talent Acquisition Specialist to support recruiting across manufacturing operations in San Diego, CA onsite.

You will source candidates for manufacturing, operations, quality, engineering and supervisory roles; conduct phone screens; coordinate interviews; and manage candidate communications to keep roles moving and hiring managers informed.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of recruiting or talent acquisition experience.
• Experience recruiting in manufacturing, CNC machining, aerospace, industrial production, or related technical environments.
• Experience sourcing candidates through job boards, resume databases, direct outreach, referrals, and networks.
• Ability to review manufacturing resumes for relevant technical, production, and leadership experience.
• Experience with phone screens and initial qualification decisions.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office; Paycor experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Post, maintain, and refresh job advertisements across relevant recruiting platforms
• Review resumes and applications against position requirements and hiring criteria
• Conduct initial phone screens to evaluate experience, qualifications, availability, compensation expectations, location, and fit
• Coordinate interviews across candidates, HR, hiring managers, and other stakeholders
• Provide timely candidate communication and status updates throughout the recruiting cycle
• Build and maintain candidate pipelines for recurring and difficult-to-fill manufacturing roles
• Reach out to trade schools, colleges, workforce programs, veteran resources, and other talent sources
• Maintain accurate candidate records and recruiting activity in the ATS
• Partner with HR and hiring managers to align on recruiting priorities and keep roles moving
• Support offer and pre-employment coordination as needed
• Track recruiting activity and candidate flow across open positions
• Provide a responsive, organized recruiting experience and represent 5th Axis professionally
• Perform other recruiting-related duties as assigned

Responsibilities

• Actively engage passive talent using resume databases, direct outreach, professional networks, referrals, and other sourcing channels
• Post, maintain, and refresh job advertisements across relevant recruiting platforms
• Review resumes and applications against position requirements and established hiring criteria

• Recommend qualified candidates to move forward in the interview process

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of recruiting or talent acquisition experience
• Demonstrated recruiting experience within manufacturing, CNC machining, aerospace, industrial production, or a closely related technical environment
• Experience recruiting skilled manufacturing talent (for example: CNC machinists, quality personnel, maintenance technicians, production employees, manufacturing professionals, supervisors, or similar roles)
• Experience actively sourcing candidates, not only managing inbound applications
• Experience using job boards, resume databases, direct outreach, referrals, networking, schools, and other sourcing channels
• Ability to review manufacturing resumes and identify relevant technical, production, and leadership experience
• Experience conducting phone screens and making initial qualification decisions
• Strong organizational and follow-through skills to manage multiple open positions and candidate pipelines
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work independently while partnering effectively with HR and hiring managers
• Experience with applicant tracking systems, HRIS platforms, and online recruiting tools
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office
• Paycor experience is a plus
• Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Previous hands-on recruiting experience in a manufacturing or closely related technical environment is required

Schedule

• Temporary, part-time role anticipated at approximately 20–25 hours per week
• Regular availability during normal business hours to support candidate outreach, phone screens, interview coordination, and hiring manager communication
