Job description

What we're building

The marine industry supports recreation, global commerce, and national defense. And yet it runs on technology that hasn't meaningfully changed in fifty years. Until now.

Arc is on a mission to electrify the marine industry. We're rethinking powertrains, software, and vessel designs from first principles. And we're already executing. We started with consumers to develop and harden our core technology. We're now scaling production of our flagship model with new models and sectors on the horizon. Now we're extending our platform to commercial applications, starting with tugs, ferries, and defense, with years worth of signed contracts and a pipeline that spans every vessel type on the water.

The technology is proven, the momentum is building, and the opportunity is enormous. The marine industry is going electric and Arc is building the platform that powers it.

Who we're looking for

As Arc's Talent Acquisition Leader, you will own how Arc hires as we scale from flagship production into commercial and defense programs. That means building and leading the recruiting team, running a hiring engine that moves fast without cutting corners, and partnering with leaders across engineering, manufacturing, and commercial teams to land the people who will electrify the water.

We're looking for someone fired up by the mission and ready to build. You'll thrive here if you move fast, take ownership, and care about the details.

This is a full‑time, on‑site role at our Los Angeles headquarters.

What You'll Do
  • Leading, coaching, and growing a team of recruiters and coordinators, setting clear goals and raising the bar on candidate experience
  • Owning Arc's hiring plan end to end, partnering with senior leadership on headcount timelines and prioritization, making smart tradeoffs when plans change
  • Personally recruiting for our most critical and senior roles across engineering, manufacturing, operations, and commercial, finding the people who'll help us electrify an entire industry
  • Building scalable recruiting processes, from intake and structured interviews to offer approvals and close
  • Partnering with hiring managers as a trusted advisor on role design, market realities, compensation, and selection decisions
  • Running Greenhouse and our recruiting tech stack, keeping the data clean, and using AI to help a small team do more, better, and more creatively
  • Sharing pipeline health, time to fill, offer acceptance, and source quality openly, so leaders have the context to make smart decisions
  • Getting creative about finding hard‑to‑fill technical and skilled trades talent, from passive candidates to people in automotive, aerospace, energy, and traditional marine who are ready for something new
  • Telling Arc's story through job descriptions, outreach, events, university and veteran partnerships, and referral programs, making people want to be part of what we're building
  • Building a hiring process where people from all backgrounds see themselves at Arc and feel like they'd belong here
  • Ensuring hiring practices meet employment law and export control (ITAR) requirements as Arc expands into defense work
  • Managing agency relationships and the recruiting budget with a bias toward building in‑house capability
Minimum Qualifications
  • 8+ years of full‑cycle recruiting experience, with at least 2 years leading recruiters or a talent acquisition function
  • Experience hiring across technical and non‑technical roles, including engineering and manufacturing or skilled trades
  • Background in a high‑growth environment such as a startup, hardware, automotive, aerospace, or energy company
  • Proficiency with an ATS (Greenhouse preferred) and using recruiting data to forecast, prioritize, and report
  • Ability to influence senior leaders, push back with data, and keep hiring managers accountable
  • Ability to build processes from scratch and still personally close top candidates
  • Track record of scaling AI across a recruiting team to improve throughput, quality, and creativity, responsibly
Bonus Qualifications
  • Experience recruiting in marine, EV, defense, or other regulated hardware industries
  • Proficiency with ITAR or export‑control screening and hiring for cleared or defense‑adjacent roles
  • Background scaling a recruiting team through a hypergrowth stage (for example, 100 to 500+ employees)
  • Experience building university, apprenticeship, or veteran hiring programs
  • Comfortable pushing a fast but sustainable pace
  • Enthusiasm for boating and clean energy

At Arc, we encourage diversity and consider all qualified applicants equally for employment, regardless of background, identity, or status. You're always welcome to reach out even if you don't meet many of these qualifications. Passion and aptitude make up for a lot.

What we offer

The base salary for this role is M3: $190,000; M4: $220,000 annually.
