Job summary

1X Labs seeks a Tactile Sensing Researcher/Engineer to advance tactile sensing toward human-level capability. You will design, fabricate, test, and refine sensing systems that capture contact dynamics to enable dexterous robotic manipulation.

The role requires a PhD and a strong hands-on track record across materials, electronics, and mechanics, driving rigorous benchmarking and data-driven decisions that move concepts toward deployable tech.

Qualifications

• PhD in Robotics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Bioengineering, or related field.
• Demonstrated high-impact contributions to tactile sensing or related technologies.
• Experience developing sensing technologies through multiple generations.

Responsibilities

• Advance tactile sensing toward human-level capability through design, fabrication, testing, and refinement.
• Push sensing systems across spatial/temporal performance and durability.
• Support dexterous manipulation research and human-machine interaction.
