T3i, Inc. seeks Aquatics Coaches to support the Naval Special Warfare Command at NSWO in Coronado, CA, developing SEAL and SWCC candidates through rigorous physical training programs.

Coaches interact with junior sailors daily and provide professional, medical, and administrative support to help candidates meet the PST standards and program goals.

Qualifications

• BS/BA in Health and Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or related field, or four years equivalent experience as an instructor or fitness leader. MS/MA preferred.
• Minimum of three years of recent aquatics coaching/instructor experience in a training environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop tailored Aquatics programming: swimming and treading.
• Break down swimming biomechanics across strokes.
• Lead training modules in pools, classrooms, and gym facilities.
• Teach swimming fundamentals, drown proofing, and knot tying.
• Lead group stretches and injury prevention blocks.
• Warm-up with dynamic routines; structured cooldowns.
• Demonstrate PST exercises and ensure proper form.
• Prepare students for SEAL/SWCC selection and PST readiness.
• Maintain NSWO records on student performance and status.
• Mentor NSWO students on physical standards awareness.
• Provide CPR/AED as needed until EMS arrival.

Job Summary:

T3i Tactical Athlete- Aquatics Coaches support the Naval Special Warfare Command by developing SEAL and SWCC candidates through rigorous physical training programming and development at the Naval Special Warfare Orientation course (NSWO) in Coronado, CA.

Coaches have daily contact with junior sailors. As such, they must adhere to the highest standards of conduct in their interaction with these sailors; and understand the student/instructor relationship, the duties of the Physical Training Instructors, and provide the experienced, professional, administrative, and technical support required to achieve the desired degree of student preparation to accomplish program goals.

Responsibilities:

• Develop specific and tailored Aquatics programming: Swimming and treading with the guidance and support of NSWO leadership.
• Breakdown biomechanics of swimming technique in all competitive strokes as well as combat side stroke.
• Facilitate training modules in front of candidates in various forums to include, but not limited, to pool decks, classrooms, workout facilities, and podium lectures.
• Teach fundamentals of swimming academic blocks, drown proofing, and underwater knot tying. Must be able to learn, teach and demonstrate all techniques.
• Lead group stretches for injury prevention and self-myofascial release blocks of instruction.
• Properly warm-up candidates through dynamic warm-ups and structured cool downs to prevent injury.
• Demonstrate the points of performance for the exercises associated with the Physical Standard Test (PST), as well as ensure exercises are being performed to the established standards.
• Prepare students for success in SEAL and SWCC selection and training pipelines by working with applicants to maximize their potential in aquatics and physical training modules. This shall include guidance and application of physical preparedness and training techniques for the PST to include, but not limited to, swim stroke development with and without fins, water confidence, running, and lower and upper body development.
• Recommend solutions to establish and maintain database/spreadsheet records of NSWO students and their status in the Naval Special Warfare Orientation course, specifically regarding students’ performance on the PST.
• Mentor NSWO students to increase awareness of physical standards for NSWO programs.
• Provide medical attention to include, but not limited to, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) or Automated External Defibrillator (AED) devices while awaiting EMT Paramedics on scene.

Required Skills and Experience:

• Bachelor of Science (B.S). Or Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Health and Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or related field or four years equivalent experience working as an instructor or physical fitness leader in a similar field and environment. Master of Science (M.S.) or (M.A.) Master of Arts in Health and Exercise Science, Physiology, Kinesiology, degree preferred.
• Each Aquatics (Swim) Coach shall have a minimum of three (3) years of recent (within the last 5 years) experience as an aquatics coach/instructor in a training environment.

Desired Skills and Experience:

• It is desired that each Aquatics coach has a valid and current Level 3 ASCA certification as well as a USA Swimming certification.
• Must be CPR/AED certified
• American Red Cross Lifeguard Certified
• Naval Special Warfare High Risk Instructor Certification (Trained on-site) job offer contingent upon meeting all requirements.

Physical Requirements:

• Coaches are required to meet minimum PST standards within 30 days of reporting. Tactical Athlete Coaches shall maintain a fitness level and be prepared to pass PST standards every year.
• Must be able to demonstrate drown proofing and knot tying techniques and all swim strokes and treading techniques in a pool setting as an example for candidates. (Will receive training but must be willing and able to learn, demonstrate, and teach).
• Must be able to rescue aquatic participants, backboard (if required), and transfer care to site EMT-P.

T3i Drug Free Workplace Statement:

As a Federal Government Contractor, T3i is required to strictly adhere to federally mandated drug-free workplace standards. To ensure compliance with this requirement, T3i conducts pre-employment drug screening for all new hire personnel (full time, part time, and independent contractor) and annual random drug screening for all current T3i personnel.
