Job summary

Darwin Recruitment is seeking a Tacoma Supervisor to oversee daily ship repair operations in the Tacoma area. You will supervise projects, coordinate labor and resources, manage customer relationships, and support estimating activities to ensure work is completed safely, on schedule, and within costs.

You will serve as the local contact for employees, customers, subcontractors, and leadership, focusing on local operations and project accountability rather than divisional profit and loss.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent preferred; technical discipline related to maritime or construction management.
• Minimum 5 years in commercial/naval ship repair or related industrial environment.
• 3+ years supervising crews or coordinating multi-trade operations.
• Strong knowledge of ship repair processes and marine environments.
• Ability to interpret drawings, specs, schedules, and work packages.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily ship repair activities across vessels, shipyards, shops, and facilities to meet safety, quality, schedule, and cost objectives.
• Plan and allocate labor, subcontractors, materials, tools, and equipment to maintain productivity and minimize delays.
• Review drawings, specifications, and customer requirements to identify risks and establish work plans.
• Monitor costs, hours, materials, and progress; identify overruns and take corrective actions.
• Ensure work remains within approved scope; document changes and support change orders and customer notifications.
• Assist with estimates, work plans, schedules, and project documentation.
