Summary
A Tack Truck Driver operates a heavy-duty truck equipped with a specialized asphalt distributor, primarily responsible for spraying asphalt tack on road surfaces prior to asphalt paving.
Duties And Responsibilities
Must be able to demonstrate safe operation of assigned equipment based on changing operating conditions with an emphasis on backing up,
Must be able to drive and operate a distributor truck equipped with a tank to spray asphalt emulsions on road surfaces in accordance with contract specifications,
Drivers must be able to apply their experience and judgment to make decisions within their limit of authority,
Responsible for operating the truck in a safe appropriate manner, including the loading process,
Adhering to all DOT regulations,
Responsible for keeping the vehicle in a clean state,
Ability to read and interpret the equipment operators manual,
Work in inclement weather including snow details,
Perform minor repairs to the vehicle or report to a supervisor,
Perform daily pre-trip inspections,
Ability to work in areas of uneven terrain and reduced room for maneuvering,
Assist in training new drivers,
Understand and execute different emulsions,
Must wear proper attire at all times including PPE,
May be required to work extended hours including evenings, nights, and weekends,
Additional duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
Commercial drivers license (CDL) B with N tanker endorsement required,
Must have a clean driving record
Applicants must be able to operate Manual Transmission vehicles,
Must possess two (2) years of experience as an Asphalt Distributor operator,
Must have an acceptable driving record,
Must communicate effectively with job site supervisors and fellow employees,
High School Diploma or GED required,
Must be able to successfully pass a background and drug screening.
Working Conditions
This job requires the ability to lift, pull, and push a minimum of 50 lbs., bend, stoop, kneel, reach, squat twist, and climb heavy equipment several times throughout the day. In addition, you must have the ability to be on your feet regularly and use hands, arms, and legs repeatedly on the job. This includes frequently walking on sloped ground and slippery and uneven surfaces, as well as working in confined areas.
