Job summary

Synechron in Iselin, NJ is seeking a Tableau BI Developer to design, develop, and maintain interactive dashboards and reports that power analytics and strategic decision‑making. You will gather requirements from business users and translate them into scalable BI solutions.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain interactive Tableau dashboards, scorecards, reports, and visualizations.
• Gather reporting requirements from business users and translate into BI solutions.
• Develop, optimize, and troubleshoot complex SQL queries for data extraction and reporting.
• Create dashboards using Tableau Desktop and publish on Tableau Server/Cloud.
• Optimize workbook performance via design, tuning, and extract optimization.
• Implement advanced Tableau features: parameters, LOD, sets, actions, filters, extensions.
• Manage Tableau Server administration: publishing, permissions, subscriptions, schedules, governance.
• Collaborate with data engineers, analysts, and stakeholders to deliver reporting.
• Develop and maintain data models using dimensional modeling (facts/dims).
• Support ETL/ELT processes and ensure data quality across reporting environments.
• Work with SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, Snowflake and related platforms.
• Participate in CI/CD for Tableau artifacts and analytics solutions.
• Troubleshoot reporting issues and ensure data accuracy and performance.
• Document dashboard designs, data mappings, and technical procedures.

Additional Information*

The base salary for this position will vary based on geography and other factors. In accordance with law, the base salary for this role if filled within Iselin, NJ is $90k - $100k/year & benefits (see below).

The Role

Responsibilities:

Design, develop, and maintain interactive Tableau dashboards, scorecards, reports, and visualizations to support business analytics and strategic decision-making.

Gather reporting requirements from business users and translate them into scalable BI solutions.

Develop, optimize, and troubleshoot complex SQL queries for data extraction, transformation, validation, and reporting.

Create advanced dashboards using Tableau Desktop and publish, manage, and maintain content on Tableau Server or Tableau Cloud.

Optimize workbook performance through efficient dashboard design, query tuning, extract optimization, and best practices implementation.

Implement advanced Tableau features such as parameters, calculated fields, LOD expressions, sets, actions, filters, and dashboard extensions.

Manage Tableau Server administration activities including content publishing, user permissions, subscriptions, schedules, refreshes, and governance.

Collaborate with data engineers, architects, analysts, and business stakeholders to deliver high-quality reporting solutions.

Develop and maintain data models using dimensional modeling techniques, including fact and dimension tables.

Support ETL/ELT processes and ensure data quality, consistency, and reliability across reporting environments.

Work with enterprise databases including SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, Snowflake, and related data platforms.

Participate in CI/CD initiatives and automated deployment processes for Tableau artifacts and analytics solutions.

Troubleshoot reporting issues and provide timely resolutions while maintaining data accuracy and performance standards.

Document dashboard designs, data mappings, business logic, and technical procedures.

Required Skills:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, Engineering, or a related field.

4+ years of experience in Tableau development and business intelligence reporting.

Strong hands-on experience with Tableau Desktop and Tableau Server/Tableau Cloud.

Advanced SQL expertise with experience writing complex queries involving:

• Joins
• Subqueries
• Common Table Expressions (CTEs)
• Window Functions
• Aggregations
• Query Performance Tuning

Strong understanding of data warehousing and dimensional modeling concepts.

Experience with fact tables, dimension tables, star schema, and snowflake schema designs.

Hands-on experience with relational databases such as SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, Snowflake, or equivalent platforms.

Knowledge of ETL/ELT methodologies and data integration concepts.

Experience optimizing dashboard and query performance for large datasets.

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Preferred, but not required:

Experience with cloud-based analytics environments and modern data platforms.

Knowledge of Python, R, or other analytics tools.

Exposure to DevOps practices, Git, CI/CD pipelines, and automated deployment frameworks.

Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.

Familiarity with data governance, security, and enterprise BI best practices.
