Job summary

Golden Nugget Hotel and Casino Lake Tahoe is seeking a Pit Supervisor to oversee assigned gaming pits, ensure adherence to standards, and monitor game activity for integrity and guest satisfaction. This role requires supervisory skills, staff training, and a commitment to KE.E.P. values on the casino floor.

The candidate will work across shifts, interact with guests and staff, and uphold confidentiality while maintaining high performance in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • Minimum two years multi-game dealing experience or equivalent training.
  • Strong understanding of casino games, policies, and cheating indicators.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication; ability to maintain confidentiality.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise gaming service activities for a designated pit area.
  • Monitor activities to detect irregular or suspicious behavior.
  • Direct and assist during live games and correct dealer actions when needed.
  • Maintain awareness of game standings, player limits, and dealer performance.
  • Ensure high standards of customer courtesy and guest service on every game.
  • Assist in hiring, performance appraisals, and staff discipline as needed.
  • Provide on-the-job training for Dealers to ensure quality service.

Job description

Overview

This position is responsible for supervising, monitoring, and controlling an assigned pit section consisting of one or more games to assure the delivery of customer service according corporate and property-specific standards, while maintaining the integrity of the games. This position must also exhibit a high level of professional and personalized guest service that embodies the Company’s brand standard and core values (K.E.E.P. – Kindness, Engagement, Empathy and Positivity).

Responsibilities
  • Assume overall responsibility for the effective gaming service activities for a designated area or pit.
  • Maintain constant awareness of activities of all games in assigned locations to observe and act appropriately in the event of any suspicious or irregular activity.
  • Control and direct games in progress by monitoring and providing assistance and dealer correction.
  • Maintain awareness of how each game stands with respect to player limits, special customers, gains/losses, and dealer performance.
  • Oversee and assure high standards of customer courtesy on each game and works closely with casino staff members in this regard.
  • Assist and make recommendations to hiring, appraising, and disciplining of staff to ensure adequate level and quality of employees for provision of services.
  • Provide and monitor on-the-job training for Dealers to ensure staff receives adequate guidance, resources, and information for adequate job performance.
Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Ability to use all equipment associated with the position, including but not limited to computer keyboard.
  • Must be able to review and comprehend player data and all necessary documentation.
  • Ability to observe and direct actions of subordinates.
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all times, with customers as well as all levels of employees.
  • Ability to effectively and efficiently move around work area.
  • Coordinate or supervise the work of others.
  • This position spends the majority of shift on the casino floor, and is subject to varying levels of crowds, noise levels, and smoke, the severity of which depends upon customer volume.
Qualifications
  • Sound technical understanding of games manuals, policies, procedures, and a demonstrated
  • Demonstrated knowledge of policies and procedures of games supervised as well as knowledge of and ability to identify various cheating techniques.
  • Completion of a wide variety of specific games training programs with resulting proficiency in several pit games. These skills and abilities are typically acquired through a minimum of two years multi-game dealing experience.
  • Basic mathematical skills required.
  • Identify different denominations of gaming chips and currency and to count and stack chips and currency.
  • Print and write legibly.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Work as a team.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Appropriate professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Must be available for various shifts including early morning, late nights, weekends, holidays, and long hours.
  • Team Player with a guest first attitude.
  • Minimum age of 21 years old.
  • PLEASE NOTE: THIS POSITION REQUIRES A GAMING LICENSE BY THE NEVADA GAMING CONTROL BOARD

Physical Demands
  • Ability to move throughout the hotel (standing, walking, kneeling, and bending) for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to express or exchange ideas verbally and perceive sound by ear.
  • Ability to regularly move objects (lift, push, pull, balance, carry) up to 50 pounds.
  • Constantly walking up to distances of 500 ft. during shift.
  • Frequently stooping, reaching.
Work Environment
  • Work performed indoors in a climate-controlled environment. There are occasional hot and cold temperature changes.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to a smoke-filled environment.
  • Work with others in close spaces.
  • Moderate to high noise levels.
  • Walk/stand on tile/mats/carpet/cement.
