BorgWarner in Bellwood, IL is seeking a Slitter Operator to operate the T7400 slitter and minimize set-up time and scrap. You will follow recipes, log sheets, checklists and instruction sheets while handling jumbo rolls, splices and knife changes.
The role requires reading and writing English and includes safety, forklift operation, use of micrometers and hand tools as part of daily duties; pay range $25.35 to $29.78 per hour.
Perform duties to operate the T7400 Slitter in order to minimize set-up time and scrap levels.
Work from recipes, log sheets, checklists, certification and instruction sheets:
1. Use rama carts to load friction material jumbo rolls onto unwind stand.
2. Position jumbo rolls to obtain correct threading pattern to obtain felt or wire side out on winders.
3. Hand thread material through unwind rolls to the splice table on the slitter machine.
4. Splice new friction material to friction material in slitter.
6. Change knife set-up to adjust slit widths as necessary.
7. Operate slitter from the main control desk using Panelview and Guard Jog Keys and ensuring all guard doors, gates, tension, knives, chutes and machine settings are properly set.
8. Troubleshoot slitter set-up and operation problems as necessary.
9. Label and remove slit coils from slitter using an unloading arm.
10.Place slit coils onto unloading cart and roll onto upender bed.
11.Use forklift to remove slit coils from upender bed to material storage.
12.Set-up and run CC400 Core cutter per recipe specifications.
Use utility knife, carts, upender bed, forklift, micrometers and assorted hand tools.
Follow safety rules and keep work area in a clean and orderly condition.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Pay Range: $25.35 - $29.78
Employees with less than one year of service are only eligible to bid on higher paying labor grade positions.
Employees with more than one year of service will receive first consideration.
Employees in a Disciplinary Step 1 are eligible to bid on any job.
Employees in Step 2 are eligible to bid on any job after 1 year.
Employees in Step 3 are eligible to bid on any job after 1 year.
If an employee accepted a new position, they cannot bid on the same or lower paying labor grade for 1 year.
