Arlington Public Schools Career Center in Arlington, VA is seeking a 1.0 FTE Career & Technical Education Teacher (Engineering) to teach Engineering and related technology courses on-site. Requirements include Virginia licensure eligibility and endorsements in Technology Education or Engineering; a Master’s degree is highly preferred.

Experience teaching grades 6–12 is expected, with collaboration with business partners for authentic learning.

  • Endorsement in Technology Education or Engineering.
  • Industry certifications may be needed for courses with certification tests.
  • Dual ESL and/or Special Education endorsement preferred but not required.
  • Master’s Degree in Technology Education preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Teach Engineering.
  • Develop and implement group and individual lesson plans for daily, quarterly, semester and year-long periods.
  • Establish and implements behavioral protocols; observe and evaluate student performance and leadership development.
  • Instruct students using varied methods and materials to meet needs and IEPs.
  • Collaborate with business partners to provide authentic learning experiences.
  • Integrate student leadership activities with curriculum and participate in after-school activities.
  • Support extracurricular activities and maintain professional communications with parents and staff.
  • Participate in in-service and professional development activities and staff meetings.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.

Job Description

This is a 1.0 FTE located at Grace Hopper-Technical

Qualifications

  • Must have or be eligible for Virginia licensure.
  • Possession of a collegiate professional or postgraduate professional license issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia with endorsement in Technology Education or Engineering.
  • Specific industry certifications may be needed by the qualified candidate to teach courses where the students will sit for an industry certification test.
  • Candidates with a Master’s Degree in Technology Education are highly preferred.
  • Skilled in establishing and maintaining effective working relations with staff, students, and the public.

Dual endorsement in English as a Second Language and/or Special Education, or in any other content area, is preferred but not required.

Experience

Experience teaching secondary 6 th – 12 th grade technology courses.

Responsibilities

  • This position will teach Engineering.
  • Develops and implements both group and individual lesson plans for daily, quarter, semester, and year-long periods planning instructional experiences for students in accordance with established curriculum.
  • Establishes and implements behavioral protocols; observes and evaluates student performance, social and leadership development.
  • Instructs students utilizing a variety of classroom methods, adapting methodology, and instructional materials to meet student needs, abilities, and IEPs.
  • Collaborates with business partners to provide enhanced authentic learning experiences for students.
  • Integrates student organizations leadership activities with curricula content and participate in after school activities within the school, district, region, state, and nationally.
  • Supports school-related extracurricular activities and maintains positive professional communications with parents, guardians, administration, and colleagues.
  • Participate in in-service and professional development activities and staff meetings, as required or assigned.

Complete other duties as assigned.

Salary will be based on the FY 2026-27 salary schedule: $26,458 - $144,723
