Job summary

Halfords Autocentres is seeking a Vehicle Technician/Mechanic to service and repair vehicles, progressing to MOT testing. You may gain the MOT Tester licence with our support, and a base salary up to £35,000 with an uncapped monthly bonus averaging £6,600 per year.

You'll perform diagnostics and repairs across electrical, braking, steering and suspension systems, with an emphasis on quality workmanship. The role includes opportunities for progression and a range of employee benefits.

Qualifications

• Must hold Level 3 in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or equivalent.
• Minimum 4 years' Vehicle Technician/Mechanic experience in a workshop.
• Full driving licence with no more than 9 points.
• Willing to undertake MOT Tester training and qualification.

Responsibilities

• Carry out servicing, repairs, and diagnostics across vehicle systems.
• Perform more complex repairs such as clutch and timing belt replacements.
• Carry out MOT tests to DVSA standards once qualified; maintain and repair vehicles to high standards.

• Comprising a base salary of up to £35,000

As a Vehicle Technician / Mechanic, you'll already be skilled in servicing and repair/replacement work. You'll have the ability to carry out more complex tasks such as clutch and timing belt replacements and diagnostics across vehicle electrical, braking, steering and suspension systems.

Once qualified, you'll also carry out MOT tests to DVSA standards and complete a wide range of vehicle maintenance and repair work. From advanced diagnostics and complex repairs through to routine servicing, you'll ensure every vehicle is maintained and repaired to the highest standard, helping to keep our customers safely on the road.

Skills and experience

• Must have a Level 3 in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or equivalent
• Minimum 4 years' Vehicle Technician/Mechanic experience in a workshop environment
• Must have a full drivers licence with no more than 9 points
• Experienced Technician/Mechanic able to carry out diagnostic work and more complex repairs and replacements
• Willing to undertake MOT Tester training & qualification.
