Job summary

Alliant Energy Corporation is seeking a T-Maintenance Instrument & Control Journey or Apprentice in Madison, WI. The role involves performing maintenance on generation facility control and instrumentation systems, calibrating equipment, and supporting reliability improvements.

A State Approved Apprenticeship is required, with journey-level experience preferred. A valid driver’s license is required, and residency within 60 minutes of the Madison area is expected.

Responsibilities

  • Performs control and instrument, basic mechanical and basic electrical maintenance on generation facility equipment and systems.
  • Maintains and installs plant control systems and instrumentation.
  • Assists with testing, calibration, and data logging of equipment and systems.
  • Follows safety practices and procedures; supports plant reliability and efficiency improvements.
  • Gathers information from devices, interprets data, and documents work performed.
  • Performs housekeeping and other duties as needed.

That's why we prioritize safety, offer volunteer opportunities and provide competitive pay, comprehensive health and retirement benefits, tuition reimbursement and paid time off.This role may be filled at the Apprentice or Journey level dependent upon qualifications.**Residency Requirements:**Travel time from your primary residence to your assigned headquarters must be 60 minutes or less under normal driving conditions.**Job Summary** Performs varied control and instrument, and basic mechanical and basic electrical maintenance activities and other duties necessary to maintain the generation facility to which they are assigned.**What you will do*** Performs the control and instrument, and basic mechanical and basic electrical troubleshooting, maintaining, repairing, cleaning, inspecting and constructing of equipment and systems for the generation facility.* Maintains and installs plant control systems, plant instrumentation and similar activities.* Maintains, calibrates, assists with required testing of equipment and systems.* Processes all necessary documentation.* Is proficient in the use of various powered and/or hand tools as job needs dictate.* Operates and/or obtains information from various basic mechanical and basic electrical devices used to support specific equipment diagnostics or work activities; gathers, interprets and logs data.* Supports safety, plant reliability, productivity, and plant efficiency improvements by participating in various continuous improvement activities.* Performs various generating plant and shop area housekeeping functions.* Performs all work according to established procedures and safety practices.* Performs other duties which are similar, related, or incidental to this position.**Education Requirements*** High School Diploma or GED **Required Experience*** Journey level in the instrument and control trade* Completion of a State Approved Apprenticeship Program**Other requirements*** Must possess a valid driver’s license.* Employees in this job classification are covered by the Residency Policy and will be required to live within 60 minutes of one of the following locations: Columbia, Edgewater, Riverside, or Madison. **Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities*** Demonstrated ability to solve problems.* Possesses skills in basic electrical and basic mechanical* Ability to work from blueprints, diagrams, drawings, and specifications.* Familiarity with steam plant cycles and operations* Must possess technical ability* Knowledge of company safety rules* High degree of mechanical and/or electrical aptitude* Strong leadership ability* Ability to perform the physical requirements of the job.* Ability to work effectively in a collaborative and inclusive work environment.
